A little bit of about us...
Our mission at Two Moon Lodge is to share the magic of this wonderful place with our guests. We believe that vacation time is incredibly valuable, and will do everything possible to create a memorable experience for our guests. We respect the fact that our guests choose an outpost lodge for its seclusion, and therefore allow you the privacy you deserve, but are there when you need us. Two Moon Lodge is owned and operated by the Morin family. Dave and Julie have a long history in the adventure travel and outdoor marketplace, and a deep connection to the Lake Kipawa area. For 18 years they have operated Missinaibi Headwaters Outfitters, an industry leader in the Outdoor Adventure sector. Based near Chapleau Ontario, their camp at Racine Lake would have up to 300 guests on site, as well as a number of groups out on guided and self-guided canoe trips. The acquisition of Two Moon Lodge is in many ways a step back in time for the Morin's, whose family is originally from Temiskaming, Quebec. Dave has spent his youth at a cottage on Lake Temiskaming, exploring the waters of the Kipawa region. Dave and Julie look forward to slowing down a little, and enjoying the hidden paradise of Kipawa. Dave Morin is the founding director of Missinaibi Headwaters Outfitters. He is an ORCKA Moving Water canoe instructor, an avid angler, fly fisherman and fishing guide who has been fortunate to fish some of Canada's most remote lakes and rivers. As a canoe trip guide, Dave has led expeditions on 18,000 km of wilderness rivers. In June 2006, Field and Stream Magazine featured Dave in their article on the top guides in North America. Dave has been featured on Discovery Channel and assisted the production of the Canadian segment of the BBC production of Ray Mear's Bushcraft, and Trailside for PBS. His wilderness photography has been published in Canadian Geographic, Explore, Canoe & Kayak, Kanawa and Rapid Magazines. Dave has worked as a consultant helping lodge owners improve their product and customer service, and has taught Outdoor Event Management at the college level. In the winter, Dave is risk manager of a Collingwood Ontario ski resort. Julie has been a fixture in Ontario outdoor industry as co-owner and business manager of Missinaibi Headwaters Outfitters. In the off season, Julie is a Theatre Arts teacher, and a yoga instructor. Paul and Eddy Morin have grown up in the tourism business and have been working as guide's assistants and serving guests for many years. These young men are both talented musicians, and provide the campfire entertainment at the Lodge. The endless list of camp chores falls squarely on their capable shoulders.
