Our Story
As tourist resort operators for almost 30 years, the Morin family understand how much you value your vacation time. We know the importance of customer service and strive to have your stay with us exceed your expectations. But we also know that the experience at Two Moon Outpost Lodge may not be for everyone. Please take the time to read about us and our vision to see if Two Moon Lodge is right for you.
Our History
Two Moon Point was one of the first tourist properties in the region. Located on the Unceded Territory of the Algonquin People who have called the area home for hundreds of years, it was the location of a private fish and hunt club where America sportsmen in the 1920’s would travel here by steamer. In 1964 the property was sold to Ken and Rita Mullens and became Two Moon Lodge. Dave and Julie Morin purchased the Lodge in 2007 and have run it as a small, boutique-style camp ever since. The Morins previously founded and operated Missinaibi Headwaters Outfitters in Chapleau, Ontario, a leading wilderness outfitter who run guided canoe adventure tours and fishing excursions on some of Canada’s best waterways. Dave has worked as a wilderness guide, an outdoor tourism consultant, adventure sports instructor and in the winter is a risk manager for the ski industry.
Our Vision
We believe that in order to fully appreciate nature one must experience it firsthand. While sleeping under the stars may be a little ambitious for most, temporarily stepping back to a simpler way of life helps recharge things, away from the distractions of a busy life; centering on family or reconnecting with old friends, taking the time to watch a sunset or listen to the call of the loons. We understand how simple things rise to new levels out here. Things like waking to the sun on the calm water, or the taste of fresh caught walleye, or slipping into dry socks after a rainy day out fishing. We believe that the fish count on the stringer trumps the thread count of the bed linen.
Our Difference
-
- Only 5 cabins mean always-available, personalized service
- We’ll take the time to show you where and how to get fish
- No machinery or construction noises when guests are in camp
- You look out at an uninhabited lake, not across at other cabins
- Located on an open point, rather than in a buggy bay
- No large marketing strategy, sports show or pressure selling pitches
- Oh ya, and the best wood-fired thin crust pizza on Loon Bay
We love our little place here at Two Moon and want to share our piece of heaven with our guests.
