2016 Season Coming Soon (as the ice melts) – New Fishing Regs – June Availability

April 24, 2016 by dmorin No Comment

It feels like this winter will never end up here. The snow has gone, but cool nights and below seasonal temperatures are keeping things frozen. Still, we are on track for our regular opening on May 20. Eddy and I will be up there a couple weeks before and will have the place ready to go for another season, our ninth season at Two Moon, and 26th season in the outfitting business.

New this year are changes to the “keep” size for walleye and lake trout. As many of you know, I have been a proponent of an upper slot size in order to protect breeding fish and to keep the genetically larger fish in the gene pool, so I am delighted with this news.  Beginning this season you may only keep walleye between 37 cm (14.5″) up to and including 53 cm (20.75″) in length. Lake trout must be over 65 cm to keep, which essentially means that lake trout has become a catch and release fishery for the foreseeable future.  In other news, we now have a cabin available in June, from June 11-18. Let us know ASAP if you want this week of prime fishing.
We will see you before long,
